HOW CAN
A TRICHOLOGIST HELP YOU?
A thorough
consultation with a registered Trichologist can help you identify
the cause of your problem and you will receive advice on treatment.
Trichologists are consulted for many different reasons; here are a
few that you may recognise: Alopecia (hair loss or balding) - Slow
hair growth - Seborrhoea (oily scalp) - Psoriasis - Seborrhoeic Dermatitis
and Eczema - Dandruff - Pruritus (itching) - Dry, or damaged hair.
Trichology is the specialty dealing with problems of the hair and scalp; hair loss, baldness, alopecia, scaling, itching, hair breakage, hair damage, and dryness or oiliness of the hair or scalp.
Qualified trichologists have trained either with the International Association of Trichologists, undertaking the trichology course that was developed at the University of Southern California, or with the Institute of Trichologists.
Qualified trichologists who are registered members of the International Association of Trichologists, are controlled by a strict Code of Ethics and are required to take an annual test to ensure they are staying up-to-date with technical information.
The trichology course covers the medical and nutritional areas that relate to hair and scalp problems. Particularly important are the immune system, the endocrine system and the various hormones, the nervous system, circulatory system, the digestive system and dietary factors.
